INQUIRE ABOUT Rovamycin Forte Tablet (Spiramycin)
What is Rovamycin Forte? Rovamycin Forte is a prescription tablet containing spiramycin.
Each tablet holds 3 million international units of spiramycin.
Spiramycin is a macrolide antibiotic.
It is made by Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd. in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh.
The regular Rovamycin tablet contains half this amount, 1.5 MIU.
It treats toxoplasmosis in pregnant women.
There it lowers the risk of infection passing to the unborn baby.
It also treats bacterial infections of the airways and lungs.
It treats infections of the mouth, skin and soft tissues.
It does not work against viral infections.
Sources differ on which use to present first.
One listing describes toxoplasmosis as its main use.
Others list bacterial infections before toxoplasmosis.
Use it only for the infection your doctor diagnosed.
How Rovamycin Forte Works (Mechanism of Action) The action happens in five simple steps:
Bacteria and some parasites must build proteins to grow.
They build those proteins using internal structures called ribosomes.
Spiramycin binds to those ribosomes.
Protein building is blocked while the drug is bound.
The organism stops multiplying and the immune system clears it.
Spiramycin is bacteriostatic rather than directly bactericidal.
It stops organisms reproducing rather than killing them outright.
The body’s own defences complete the job.
That is one reason completing the course matters.
It crosses the placenta.
Listings state it has not shown potential harm to the unborn baby.
It reduces the chance of toxoplasma infection passing across.
